The same New Yorker has just published a (rather lame) article about my friend Dima Orlov, and in fact it says right in the article:

The doomers [people like Dima who predict imminent collapse] are currently enjoying little less derision, which is a mixed blessing, because it is axiomatic among true believers that mainstream respect means that it is too late for anything to be done.
